Based on the rave reviews I was very impressed with this shaver. I really wanted to love him and he really has something to like. It's good but not great and probably not great for beginners as the weight makes it more aggressive and less forgiving. The head looks like a copy of Edwin Jagger DE89 or Muhle R89. Blade spacing is a bit more aggressive than any of these razors. It also feels a bit more aggressive than the average settings on my adjustable razors. The build, fit and finish are decent but not particularly outstanding. It's made well enough that the blade is easy to load and center, and the blade stays very secure when properly aligned. It's very important and it definitely is. The knurling on the handle is good, but the edges feel a bit sharp/rough making it feel a bit cheap. This is a VERY heavy pen. By far the heaviest I've ever used. I thought it would be nice, but it makes the razor feel a little off balance and maybe even a little more aggressive than the head would otherwise. It also makes the razor less suitable for finer, shorter moments, such as. B. polishing the blade, and is more likely to cause shaving irritation if not handled carefully. It's a good combination, but for me it's best for a quick and reasonably effective 2-pass shave. I find it too much and too awkward for the third pass against the fibers. This is a good razor but may not be ideal for many. You should also keep in mind that this razor sells for around $16-$18 and there are many other very good options starting at $17. When you compare it to other budget options like the West Coast Shaving stainless steel razors for under $18, or the Vikings Chieftain Jr. for a similar price, or the real DE89 you sometimes see at Revain for under $22, I'm not sure that is surprising. a deal that others portray in reviews. Some have compared it to $40 Mercury, etc. It's a pretty odd comparison. While this is a very functional and reliable razor, and Mercury is overpriced based on the name and origin. But so are other razors - that is, softer, with lighter, smoother handles for more precise control, and slightly better built. Before you can compare the price, the shaver must suit you. If the razor is unbalanced and chunky (or not), that's part of the design you're paying for. It's not just about how good the chrome work is. Anyone who knows what they're getting into will love this reliable razor at a great price. Just don't expect a great razor to sell for 1/2 or 1/3 the price of reputable competitors, as others here may claim.
