Review on Optimized Coil Spring Set - Moog CC865 by David Hansen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

2008 Grand Marquis - Height restored but ride a bit stiff and range shortened.

It worked on my 2008 Grand Marquis and restored the correct height - the muffler no longer hits the ground every time I park my car in a sloping driveway. There is no information about this set of springs in the 2008 Grand Marquis and I've looked everywhere, even asking suppliers about compatibility, but no one has been sure. In the end I decided to just pull the trigger and order it. Compared to the "original" springs that were airbag replacements, the dimensions are similar. However, the Moog cc865 has a progressive setting - noticeably stiffer at the top, creating more resistance when the springs are compressed. The old springs were Motorcraft/Ford but they are much softer than they were 3 years ago when I bought this car. The rear of the car would sag under the weight or down a slope, scratching the mufflers every time I pulled off the road. The new springs definitely feel stiffer with less travel. I don't really like the ride, but the sag problem is solved. I could use new Motorcraft original springs but I think they cost about 2.5 times more than these and having experienced deterioration I will probably need new ones again. Moog is fine.
