Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhance Your GM Colorado/Canyon with Firestone W217602384 Ride-Rite Kit by Frank Webster

Nice weekend project

I installed this kit on my '08 2WD GMC Canyon. Installation was moderately difficult as the truck had to be jacked up with the rear wheels removed. The upper and lower airbag brackets are attached to the upper and lower stopper brackets. Since the (welded) connecting brackets are not directly above and below each other (and the airbag brackets do NOT allow any adjustment), a perfectly vertical airbag arrangement is not possible. The instructions say they should be vertical. The U-clamps that attach the bottom bracket to the axle leave about two inches of open threads when tightened. Nothing says "universal fit" like extra thread, so I cut each one off an inch with a cutting wheel on my trusty Dremel. I installed inflation valves on each side of the license plate. Everything looks pretty good and the system doesn't seem to have any leaks. Time will tell if the effort was worth it. Attention: The instructions leave a lot to be desired, but contain important information. Read through them several times before beginning the installation. Be careful when inflating these things. Because they are so small, the pressure builds up very quickly and falls off just as quickly. You can lose a few pounds per square inch just by checking the pressure with a tire pressure gauge. In addition, the exhaust pipe runs five centimeters away from the side airbag on the passenger side. I'm thinking about wrapping thermal foil around the tube.
