This is a very nice instrument. It's rugged and drop tested from a height of 1m - although obviously it's best to avoid falls with such tools due to the delicate internal mechanism. The best thing about this level is that the laser is mounted on a self-leveling gimbal, so as long as you keep your device within 4 degrees of the level, the laser will line up perfectly. And if you're not within 4 degrees of the level, the device will warn you by turning itself off (unless you've activated Pendulum Lock). This particular device is a 3 point plumb line kit, so only points are produced, not a full laser line. You can upgrade to the PLS 6G kit and get a line-to-spot laser system for plumb line, leveling and perpendicularity. It's a bit more expensive but gives you a lot more versatility so it would be a worthy upgrade if you can afford it. You can also get a red laser version of this kit, but the green one is much easier to see on the road. The only downside of the green one is that it drains the batteries faster, but you still get 16 hours (compared to 30 hours with the red laser), which is more than enough. The device runs on three AA batteries, which are included. They contained Duracell batteries, which I really appreciate. The power switch may have been accidentally turned on when packing, so I always remove the batteries before storing them. Also, make sure to put the laser in lockdown mode to protect it when stored or transported. I don't see any reference to this in the product manual, but it's important to protect the internal pendulum. The yellow toolbox is good enough, but it's a lot bigger than it should be. The lid has an empty storage compartment that can be used to store small items such as pens, etc. The only thing I don't like is that no printed instructions are included. You need to go to the website to download the PDF file. There are also no instructions on how to open the battery - I figured it out, but it's not immediately obvious (you have to open it in the little slot at the top).
