I originally bought these to cut transition stitches as they cut very tightly as the blades are thin and sharp. Their small size makes them great for grabbing the tire while working on the machine. Be careful not to get caught on the fabric, they are sharp! I have appliqué scissors that work well, but now I use appliqué scissors as well. I find them easy to control because they are small and get very close. It's much easier to get to a bodysuit with hoops to cut your hair. The reason I don't give 5 stars is because I think they could be easier to open and close. They seem to take a bit of work. My red platypuses are smoother and lighter. I'm trying to decide whether to get another pair of these or a 4 inch auburn top as a second pair. I'll update my rating and change it to 5 stars. I've been using them for a long time and bought myself a second pair of gingers. 4 inches, similar to this one. I prefer Havel. They are lighter and just easier to handle.
