Defective or not as advertised
The timer does not make a sound. There is no way to turn the sound on or off. I'm not sure if the timer is defective or misrepresented in the product description. The timer appears to be very cheap and most likely will not survive a five foot drop. The timer I'm replacing has fallen off the fridge more times than I can remember and still works, but now I have to tape the battery door off.
