Worked very well for the 700 mile trip to Hilton Head Island when fitted with my 48 inch trailer hitch port cargo trunk. I bought some ratchet straps from Lowes for $15 and slipped them through the buckles on the bag to give it some extra support and off we went. The ratchet straps also made it easier to put the bag on and off the carrier. I also put some thin plywood under the bag to support this as others here have suggested. It worked really well for me. Incidentally, it fit perfectly in the back of my fully loaded 2014 Toyota Highlander when I had to lock it overnight in a hotel on the way back. I had to take everything I needed for the night to the hotel room and left the rest in the SUV. enough durability.
