Worth the price

I have been struggling with very rough steering and bumps on my 2010 (non Rubicon) JKU for about 2 years. In the last 18 months I have replaced almost all front steering components; Universal joints, ball joints, springs, shock absorbers, steering rod, steering rack, rod, upper and lower links, all front and rear suspension bushings. Nothing really helps. These ball joints were part of a larger update I made a few days ago. Here's a story about ball joints: About 15 months ago I bought a couple of Moog ball joints to replace the badly worn factory ones. I never liked her. They felt very loose and my steering kept getting worse until I finally decided to bite the bullet and get these Terflex HD ball joints. I was a little nervous at first about spending twice as much on ball joints, but I wish I had done it sooner. These HD ball joints came in the nicest car parts box I've ever seen. It contained simple instructions with pictures. The only thing that wasn't in the box that I'd like to see are the grease caps, but I had a few on hand. Installation was easy. After removing the front wheel drive/steering wheel I pressed out the old ball joints. I then used a spoked wheel in my drill to clean all surfaces and remove any rust that was present. I then lubricated both the ball joint and the mating surfaces of the C-arm. The new hinges fit well. Note that it is important to read the details on how to position the lower ball joint so that the grease fittings are accessible. especially if you have RCV axles! After pressing in the ball joints, the lubricator must be reinstalled on the upper ball joint. This can be a little tricky as the hole in the C-arm is deeper than the ball joint housing on the back. I was able to install mine by using some lube and then pushing and twisting the bushing until it sits in place. Install the grease fittings, but do not lubricate them until the steering knuckle is in place. After your steering knuckle is reinstalled and bolted, reinstall the cotter pins and liberally lubricate the pivot pins. (I also swapped out my trucks, gimbals, hubs, and bearings when I installed these ball joints). After everything was assembled, I tried out my setup and the difference was immediately noticeable. Initial results show no signs of intermittent, wandering steering. The steering wheel dent is gone. I'll be keeping an eye on these new ball joints during the new break-in period and will update this review if anything changes. But right now I'm very happy. So if you're in doubt about buying these TeraFlex HD ball joints, pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed!
