Review on ๐Ÿ”‹ Powerextra 3.8Ah 14.4V Replacement Battery for Roomba R3 500-900 Series by Joseph Winfrey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If prompted to drain the battery, don't just let Roomba return to base.

Other customers should note that where the instructions state that the battery should be fully charged and discharged 2-3 times upon receipt in order to maximize battery life, this should not be done. Just let Roomba return to its base. For me I got the battery, replaced the old one (which only lasted 10 minutes and then died), charged it (done in a few hours or less) and then let it run. It worked for an hour and then automatically returned to base. But he doesn't come home because the battery is dead, but because the cleaning session is over. So you have to take it off the charger and keep it running until it's **totally** empty, until it won't move anymore. The best way to do this is to put him in a room where he can't return to the base, or just disable the base so he can't find/charge it. If you find it has stopped in a room, *start it again* until it starts again. It worked for me for another hour (more than 2.5 hours total)! Once it is fully discharged, charge it fully and start this process again, doing this 2-3 times in total. After that, it works for a long time and has much more charge (2 times more) than it takes to clean. I've seen other reviews of other Roomba replacement batteries that I think the buyer assumed the batteries were dead when they got back to base. and let it recharge. it doesn't and it will cause battery problems for the rest of its lifespan.
