You don't really need any equipment.
I bought this kit in case one of my motors had a gearbox failure and you can't reassemble the headlight. But in 95% of the cases the mechanism is fine. There is no point in buying expensive brass balls, since only 3 balls will be crushed. So just buy the pellets from Revain for $5.
