High-quality monotube damper

It amuses me that the last time I got a pair of these shock absorbers for my first car was in high school. decades ago. This review is specific to the last pair I just put on my 1995 2WD Tacoma pickup. I think based on my experience these are excellent quality gas charged shock absorbers. Pros: * Quality - for me it's the top. When it comes to mufflers that last a long time without leaking or sacrificing performance, they excel. Believe it or not, I still have the car I had in high school and it still has those original KYBs - over 30 years later. They haven't lost a drop of oil, cushioning and responding to rebound. The new shocks I just fitted to my pickup are the same shape and finish and I expect them to perform similarly. This will probably be the last pair of shocks I put on a truck.* Performance. I've always loved the performance of these KYB monotube shocks. In my opinion they tend to be a little rough to drive, which I think is just perfect for small cars with sporty intentions and small to medium sized pickups. They focus more on performance than comfort. While they are great at absorbing big bumps and bumps in the road and really help keep the car level under braking and cornering, they let you feel the little things and give you a better feel on the road. While some might not like it, I prefer it, especially in my pickup truck. They handle loads very well and level out as the load increases; When the truck is empty, these KYB tires really keep the tires in contact with the road.* Cost. It surprises me that they cost so little given their durability and level of quality. However, given the difference in ride and life expectancy, this is a great bang for your buck. They use rubber bushings for their mounts; As long as they last and how responsive they are I think they would benefit from stronger bushings like urethane. I expect the bushing to wear out well before the inner seals wear out. Depending on the trip you are looking for, they may or may not be the ones you need. There are shock absorbers that provide a softer ride but also allow for more pitch and roll. If you like a firmer, more responsive ride, these shocks might be for you. I am delighted and can definitely recommend them. Five stars!
