Review on Old Town Canoes & Kayaks Lure Angler Men's PFD/Life Jacket: Optimal Safety and Comfort for Anglers by Muhammad Balding

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great PFD, if a bit pricey.

So far I really like this life jacket for kayak fishing and touring adventures. It's very comfortable and seems to fit as expected. It's not overly bulky but offers decent storage. In fact, if you need more storage options than there are, you're probably doing it wrong, haha. My only concern is that the top straps need more velcro as they dangle a bit if you're not the right size to keep them at the right length. I keep an eye out for separately sewn storage compartments, especially at the bottom of the bag, as I know other designs are always slow to come apart in these places. Also remember that this is a type III life jacket only which does not guarantee that your face will not end up in the water if you are unconscious. Familiarize yourself with the different types of life jackets and their possible uses before making a purchase decision. For me, this was normal for inshore and slightly offshore waters where the rescue was fairly quick, or when paddling with a buddy. Never rely on an inflatable lifejacket to inflate automatically. So it was a great option knowing it would give me reasonable reassurance. I always say function over form. But this one looks great too. Update: This life jacket only has a tiny plastic ring for attaching wire cutters/tweezers etc. It really needs a stronger shoulder and chest strap to attach your VHF radio to. .
