I've tried a few small heaters at local pet stores and no choice. Nothing lasted more than a few months. They are used in 3.5g betta tanks and I have had fish for decades. not an expert, but I would never let a heater run empty, for example. Anyway I got them after two heaters went out and the poor fish got cold. For a short time I wrapped the tanks in blankets with hand warmers. A few hours after these heaters were turned on, the rooster perked up and came out of hiding. Since then he has built a giant bubble nest! I can't say how long they will last, but I really like that it has an indicator so I can keep an eye on it. The suction cups are small so I didn't have much trouble attaching them to a round aquarium. FYI I have 1 in a rooster fish tank and another in a 5.5g community tank. Both tanks stay at the same temperature
