Review on Dorman 38448 Door Striker Bolt by Justin Cranford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Needs some adjustments to the plastic roller (including fixing tips along with the sagging door)

like all these 1980's thru late 90's replacement Ford car, auto, truck etc door latches you will need to take them apart and grind the OD 1/16" of the OD or they will stick and you will have to be a gorilla and use both hands to open the door when used as received. The first one I bought years ago, tried waiting for it to wear a little, tried graphite spray (failure that it is black and dirty color), tried lubricating with silicone spray, etc., save time and simply reduce the outer diameter. Dismantle it, use aluminum, brass or wood in sponges so as not to damage the thread, press it to the jaws, lightly use a plumber's sanding cloth to reduce the diameter, wipe the cloth a few times, then rotate and repeat until you've sanded the full OD a little, adjust, put a drop of grease on the pawl, open and close several times, wipe off excess. Tip: Noticing an area behind the old one will make it easier to readjust if the door on your Ford is sagging. or truck buy this https://www.amazon.com/gp/p roduct/B082B19CY1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Prop the door Only loosen the top hinge on the side of the door (not the hinges behind the fender) lower the door slightly drill out the top pin with a 3/8" drill bit use a center punch or 1/4" long screw ---- knock out the pin remove the 2 screws holding the hinge on the side of the door, tap Remove the bushings Install new Install loosely reinstall hinge Align pin in holes Install walnut Viola UB Done (takes about an HOUR)
