Works well in the kitchen and dining room

I bought this for a number of reasons. I work the night shift and share the house with my mom so I'm always looking for things I can use to reduce the noise I make at night when I'm awake and she's asleep so I thought this would be it a good way to keep warm. . making soup or pasta, which meant I could stay in my room. I also figured if it worked well I might take it to work to cook fresh pasta instead of reheating pasta or something. It works out. OK. At first I made pasta in it, everything worked out. The water was quickly heated and the noodles cooked as usual. I drained the pasta to drain and added some pasta sauce to warm it up. This is where I started noticing the problem. The pasta sauce boiled quickly on the stovetop. I tossed the noodles back in, mixed them up and it was ok but it was more of a mess than expected to clean up. It wasn't difficult to clean it yourself. I poured in some water, let it sit for a bit, and then was able to remove all of the scalded sauce with minimal effort. The scalding problem will definitely come back. I've cooked/reheated a few soups in it, and anything with a creamy base scalds very easily, even on the "low" setting. It's still good and heats up fairly quickly, but even if you stir constantly you'll end up with a scalded/burned bottom. Also, I noticed that it turns off pretty quickly and randomly. I know it has an "overheat protection" setting that keeps it too hot, but the last time I used it I barely got the soup up to temperature and it shut itself off. Overall - works well for what it is but definitely definitely not what I was looking for.
