These cables were installed for extra length when I increased the handlebar height on my old Diamondback bike. Installation took several hours, and a parting tool was used to trim the segments. When cutting, wrap the inner cables with tape to keep them from unraveling. This will make it easier to attach the end caps and crimp when you're done. The thicker cable is for the brakes and the thinner cable is for the derailleurs, don't mix them up. Remember to measure twice, make sure you are using the correct brake and derailleur cables before you cut. These cables really improved shifting and braking. , compared to the original cables on the bike.
