I purchased this set to fill some nail holes in some stained wood door casing and baseboard moulding. The trim / casing was made of clear pine and stained to a medium / dark brown color. As expected, when nailing up the moulding there were some nail holes that were visible. Thought I'd give this set a try to see if it would effectively fill said nail holes.I initially tried the markers to see if they would darken up the pine wood that was exposed around the edges of the nail holes. And, yes the markers did solve that problem. However, even the lightest marker in this set stained the nail holes darker than what I would have liked them to be.Then I tried the filler crayons. Again, I started with the lightest filler crayon. And, while it did stain the exposed pine around the nail holes a color similar to the stain that was used on the wood - the hole were in no way filled. Upon repeated tries the holes would still not fill with this set's crayons.While I wasn't blown away by the end result when using this product - I wasn't entirely disappointed either. The crayons did minimize the nail holes by did not in anyway fill them. And, the markers, again, did minimize things. But they did not completely hide them.Just one very important suggesting: when using this set - both the markers and the filler crayons - start with the lightest color and work your way up. I was filling nail holes in medium brown stained pine and the lightest color marker almost stained the bare pine around the nail holes too dark a color. Likewise, with the filler crayons - the lightest color was dark enough to minimize the nail holes anything darker would have amplified the nail holes.
