This is the job you're afraid of! it's pretty simple and a bit messy. google "transmission 4l60e and filter change" and search youtube for tips. here is my experience with shadow wood: 1) latex gloves, lots of cardboard, workshop towels, a garbage bag and an oil pan. 2) a set of heads, a flat head, a crowbar, a hammer, or a block of wood. Ramps make it so much easier! 3) I slashed the drain plug, that's a common problem so I did it. Loosen screws and remove screws from 1 back corner, drain. When finished, remove all screws except 1 middle rear and 1 front passenger side. Release both where you can get a 1/4" clear pipe in the oil pan and drain the remaining oil with a siphon, get in from the front driver's side. works best when the transistor is WARM. takes about 1 Hour for 4.5 liters per pallet 4) Clean the inside of the pan with paint thinner Remove the gasket with a razor knife A small brass brush will help remove gasket residue from the oil pan 5) Set the gasket aside for a few days installing under something heavy and flat. Place the gasket on a clean rim, loosen all 16 screws, screw in at least 1/4", install the filter, then the pan. Tighten the screws with the extension from Hand on and tighten DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, you will damage the seal and leak 6) Follow the fluid and quantity instructions for the make and model Check after 30 minutes n Drive, park, run and check fluid levels Check frequently a few days on level ground. Don't skimp on it, I have a 190k on mine, this will be the last filter. Fits perfectly! I did not change the filter gasket, mine was still in great condition. I put 5 qts Valvoline Dex/Merc in my old transceiver damn it took so long why not. 07 and up will be Dex 6. Wally and Amazon carry both.
