I enjoyed going back and forth with Jandel on this one. Initially it looked like I would need a larger inverter, but I was short on space (with a Eurovan motorhome) and wanted my small microwave to run on my auxiliary batteries. I had a feeling it was a surge of current from the microwave that tripped the inverter and caused the inverter to show an OL (overload) signal even though this inverter has a built in soft start (peak limiting) feature. in. I did a little research and oddly I found soft start limiters (also called inrush currents i.e. surges i.e. spikes) which are used in the music industry for amplifiers. I contacted an enthusiastic electrician and after looking at my microwave oven specs and my inverter specs, he said the Ameritron ICP-120 should "theoretically" work. And to my delight I installed the ICP-120 between the inverter and the microwave and the inverter now has no problem running the small microwave. I hope it helps.
