Another reviewer said so, but I'll repeat it. There are two reasons to have a backup. The first reason is to prevent too much current from what you plugged into the outlet, the second is to protect the cord itself in the event of a short circuit. The backup in this setup is useful for the first reason, but not the second. It is too close to the outlet and does not protect the cable itself from a short circuit. I cut a fuse holder out of mine and soldered it closer to the wire terminal so I can connect it directly to the car battery. After modification it works great.
