Holds knives securely but has one design feature to keep in mind. It comes with a removable back panel with screw holes in case you want to wall mount it. It is not used for refrigerator installation. When we attached the magnet to the fridge, we moved it a bit to straighten it and noticed scratches on the fridge's surface. The magnet is slightly embedded in the surrounding metal, and the edges of the metal are rough and slightly abrasive. Passing a magnet over the surface of the refrigerator can scratch the surface. Ours isn't particularly bad or deep, but it shows. Knives are easy to take out with a slight tug or twist, but we also find that the bar moves every time we take the knife out, so we assume it needs constant adjustment to keep it looking straight. If it continues to scratch, it will be removed. It would have been much better if the magnet protruded a bit from the surrounding metal, which I expected. It works and looks good but be careful when you buy it.
