This is a decent live performance center, especially considering it costs less than $20. runout was less than 0.001, bearings were smooth and fairly quiet. The metal that makes up this live tip is too soft for metal turning. Do not buy this if you are going to use it on a metal lathe. My mid was practically destroyed the first time I used it with stainless steel. Now it's used for rough woodwork because I can't get it back. This would be nice for woodworking that requires a live center, but that's the limit of its usefulness.
