Wish they came with instructions - it took me a while to figure out how to do this properly for JST connectors. Basically, the trick to doing this is to break off a connector by bending it back and forth. Now, using needle-nose pliers, hold the connector by the side of the connector and gently squeeze the V-tabs until they fit into the groove on the top jaw of the crimping tool. There is a small tab on the underside of the connector that acts as a latch for the plastic connector. This notch serves as a stopper - the part of the connector that needs to be outside of the crimping tool so it doesn't crease during crimping. Using needle nose pliers to hold the tiny connector makes it easier to position the connector correctly so that the small tab is on the outside of the jaw but touching the side of the crimp. The crimping tool can now be pushed in as far as it will go before completing the actual crimping process. This last position of the ratchet should hold the connector in place so you can carefully insert the crimped wire from the other side (2+mm insulation will need to be stripped from the wire). keep it in place. The final compression crimps the wire. When done correctly, the V-tabs just grab the insulation while the smaller tabs grab the exposed wire and don't crumple the bottom tabs.
