I bought this drill bit to drill holes in the railroad ties that I use for landscaping. To be honest I was a bit apprehensive because I saw a local landscaper trying to drill holes in railroad ties and it was like using a rusty butter knife to do the job. For work I used this drill bit with a Dewalt 1/2 inch puncher. The drill drilled so smoothly that I decided to stack the sleepers on top of each other and drill two at a time. Shavings, a chisel easily cuts through railroad ties. Since this is a heavy chisel I decided to try a few holes with the percussion function and it held and cut clean. Some of these drill bits are specifically marked for rock drill bits, so I would buy one of these if I needed this functionality for multiple holes.
