Review on Samshow Channels Stopwatch Adjustable Magnetic by Kimberly Khaltai

Case study - mediocre design

First I brought back the OXO multitimer for this one. This is better than OXO which requires 5 button presses to set the timer to one minute. It doesn't say much. The main problem with this timer is its physical nature. They designed this product to do many things, but it doesn't do any of them well. The main area is the back. They had a clip/stand/magnetic holder. The magnet is weak. It hardly stays on the fridge. The clip sticks out in the middle and the edges are not supported. So if you almost press a button on it, the block will fall off the fridge. The stand seems to work, but you have to help the small piece of metal slide into place to hold the stand. This is also a pocket clip: it seems pretty useless, but still. Putting the device on the counter should work, right? no Same problem with the clip on the back. If you press almost any key, everything will collapse. The end result of this is that you always have to use two hands to do anything. One to hold because it is not stable in any position and the other to press the buttons. The knobs are as cheap as it gets, but at least they're real knobs. I feel like they come from something that's 20 years old. Some big and awkward. tactile sensations. mediocre. The button layout and programming is wonky, but you get used to it. The last used time memory cannot be deactivated. I'm used to it. Timer 3 defaults to 7 minutes when activated, which I use for tea, so it's better than hitting the minute button 7 times.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
