Well I pay for the fastest internet but we always had internet problems in front of my house. This became apparent when we built my home gym/yoga room in the living room and purchased the Ring Doorbell. My home yoga room is in front of my house and my router is in the opposite corner. The ring didn't connect half the time and being in a spin class sucks and suddenly it spins and you lose all your workout information! I was fed up and needed to find something that would solve the problem. A…

Meh Whole Home & Mesh Wi-Fi Systems

1 normal wall significantly reduces signal strength. 6,000 square meters in a house is impossible. In a wide open field, I doubt what is said about the coverage area. This is a simple setup, but it can also be tricky. I thought it would be great but. I'm disappointed. My first set had a satellite that stopped working after a few days. He didn't intervene. UPDATE** The second companion has died. Motorola is no longer the same. It's just rubbish, I want a refund. Stay away. waste of money and…

Great when set up. Works great.

Maybe my situation is more unique. I first bought my own cable modem/router with built-in WiFi. Then I found that my Wi-Fi extender, which I had previously used with my DSL router, was a bit outdated and couldn't handle the gigabit speeds of my new wired connection. So my cable modem/router is a Motorola MG8702, so I figured it would be better to use the Motorola Mesh system for better compatibility. Setup was complicated by the fact that I already had two Wi-Fi networks that came with the main

  • Obsolete model

Pros: - Performance was awesome! I get high WiFi download speeds on my second floor. The speed is similar to a direct connection to the port (300 Mbit / s). The indicator lights are a great feature. I've used other mesh routers in the past and I can usually only tell if there's a problem by checking the app. But these routers are different, I can look across the room and immediately see the status of the mesh router. - Addendum: Now that I've fully configured the mesh routers, I'm a big fan of…

Intermittent issues with Ethernet backhaul

The router and satellite both have Ethernet WAN and LAN ports, so I wanted to use Ethernet to connect them (known as Ethernet backhaul) . Before I used the transport network, the signal was barely strong enough for two grid points to communicate with each other, but there weren't any real problems. However, once I set up an ethernet backhaul (to overcome the weak signal between them), I started having problems: the internet connection randomly dropped from the main router (everything was fine…

Inexpensive tri-band mesh router that works! Bad customer service!

Update 9/11/20: It's been about a week now and I have to say I think I'll give it a go. The only thing I don't like about him is that damn companion. I pretty much have to reset it if I need to reconnect for some reason (e.g. move somewhere else). Also, I see that there is no qos for this router, which sucks a bit. However, the router has been pretty cool so far and we haven't had any connection issues. We have two laptops that are constantly zooming and the third is connected to a VPN and also

QUICKLY. BRIGHT. RECOMMEND. Here's what you need to know

Here's what you need to know: Hardware: You should already have a) Internet service and b) a cable modem (own or rented from your ISP). It's just a wireless router with 1 or 2 (depending on purchase) signal extenders ("satellites") for better coverage. Appendix. Follow the quickstart instructions (make sure to reboot your cable modem before installing your router - yes, it will take a few extra minutes to start everything up, but it almost certainly won't work properly otherwise). I literally…

Good so far - network products

First impression after just starting up in the last 24 hours to replace the ISP provided equipment with the firmware that unexpectedly captured the traffic, good with some exceptions. Firstly, I am what most helpdesk managers call a power user and a nightmare as I have high expectations and demands. I read reviews complaining about the setup of the MotoManage app, so I was concerned about the initial setup. I didn't find it nearly as bad as reported. I've found that it's best to power cycle the

Good coverage and performance at a good price.

Overall I am happy with my purchase. Switching from a traditional 802.11ac router to a two-piece system has greatly improved my WiFi coverage in my 2000 square foot home. ft. This was the best I could find on a tri-band system with a dedicated transport channel. The backhaul helps free up bandwidth as it is designed for communication between network nodes. It's relatively easy to set up, but if you want to customize it, it can be a bit of a hassle.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
