Good device but limited range with standard antenna

I used this device to replace a TP-Link EAP-110 that suddenly started giving me problems. It's a lot easier to set up than TP-Link, and unlike TP-Link, the antenna is a bit adjustable so you can direct the beam. I bought it based on the advertised range of 600 feet, but I only get about 200 feet (line of sight) with the standard antenna that came with it. It should be noted that for the 600 foot range you will need a separate UMA-D antenna for another $100. Needs clarification, hence a starโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • There are new competitors

UAP-AC-HD not as fast or as long range as UAP-AC-Pro

not as fast for a single user. BUT under heavy loads the UAP-AC-HD seems to handle much heavier overall loads. Therefore, UAP-AC-HD is likely to be a good choice in high-user areas, and UAP-AC-Pro may be a better choice when more coverage and fewer users are needed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Very expensive

it works great as a simple outdoor hotspot with .

Outdoor use as an easy hotspot to reach my 2-acre garden. I can move anywhere in the yard and have wifi, stream music, receive emails. Don't let the Mesh name fool you, it works great as a regular outdoor hotspot with the option to add better coverage later. I have Unifi AP-AC-lite at home and at the office. I can walk from home to the street and to the office and not miss anything. Seamless transfers. Excellent goods.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

This model is obsolete and no longer supported - do not buy!

I give 1 star because this model is out of service but they still sell it without comment or warning. It will not receive security updates and will not be supported by Ubiquity in March. You can't even set it up without running an outdated version of the controller software. This means that if you get another Unifi device with newer features in the future, you'll need to run multiple versions of the controller to set up all of your devices. but you have to search the internet and you will findโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • not reliable

Finally a properly working ubiquitous hotspot!

After doing some research on ubiquiti's unified solutions and testing cheaper access points, I was blown away by their performance, using a low-end consumer N chipset with just the addition of an AC radio . The enterprise/professional solutions felt overpriced, and while I might prefer stability, features, and performance support, I was let down by my use cases. The problem is that Apple routers brought stability. a decent but basic feature set and consumer-level (i.e. much higher) performance.

Great wired/wireless hotspot at a reasonable price

Manufactured by Revain from seller We Love TEC. The UAP-AC-M date on the box is August 2017, so this particular device has been in the box for at least 8 months. It was necessary to transmit radio signals to a detached garage about 10 meters away. You currently have all Ubiquiti Unifi settings (Unifi hotspots, routers, switches and cloud keys). The decided mesh was the easiest/best way to extend the signal for what was needed and the UAP-AC-M ticks the bill (compact and reasonably strongโ€ฆ

Pros
  • nice item

  • power outlet required

I threw away all my non-Ubiquiti products after purchase.

Ubiquiti products are just on another level. After installing this product along with one of their PoE switches to power it, I replaced all of the networking equipment in my house with Ubiquiti products. You are so good. It's stupid to use anything else. A few things to keep in mind. Unifi is a product line by Ubiquiti. All products in the Unifi line use the same controller software and can be recognized by the software. But products that aren't part of the Unifi range, like the ER Lite router,

Ubiquiti doesn't endorse their product

I'm a Linux sysadmin and discovered Ubiquiti products a few years ago. I was so impressed with these products that we have made them standard use for our customers. Everything has changed lately. I bought this Wi-Fi product for private home use. For over a year this has been the best Wi-Fi product I have had. Then some problems started. The iPad in the house could not connect to Wi-Fi in any way, although it was able to connect to everyone else. I tried calling the administrative interface toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • unreliable

This is an impressive little device for less than $100. It's an enterprise-class outdoor access point at the price of a mid-range consumer router and comes in a long, tall handle (or box) form factor. For the price, it's hard to beat the value. I use them to test hotspot service at a marina and some on sailboat halyards and masts to extend coverage. All units are exposed to extreme weather conditions such as rain, humidity and wind. They haven't run very long but haven't had any problems for 48

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
