Review on 🚲 Allen Sports Hitch Racks for 2-Inch Hitch - 4-Bike Capacity by Logan Tripp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's not scary, but find out how it works before you buy.

I took some time to use this product before writing my review because I wanted to help people decide if it was right for them or not not before they spend their hard-earned cash. So to start, here's how I use the bike rack. I attached it to my pickup truck's hitch and we usually drive about 10 miles to our destination. The advantages are as follows. I bought a deluxe 4 bike bike rack for very little money. I paid $68 when I bought it and saw it was double the price. My suggestion is don't pay more than $68.00 for it as it will come back. I saw it recently. It's pretty solid and well built and I only put it on the truck when I need it so I can't say how it will hold up over long periods of bad weather. It's definitely made out of heavy steel and isn't lightweight, which should be a plus in terms of durability. The padded mounts that the bike's frame rests on rotate 360 degrees, allowing it to accommodate odd-shaped frames and girls' frames without the need to purchase an additional girls' frame-style bike mount to use the bike rack. Instead of a locking pin to attach to the case, he uses a lag screw (bolt and nut) to remove the rattle. This fastening system has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it does an excellent job of stopping the bike rack mounting in the trailer hitch. The bike frame's support arms fold down to give it a slightly lower profile to store it when removing it, or so it takes up less space if you leave it attached to a vehicle. Until now, straps and buckles have been sufficient to secure bicycles. I'm not sure how they will hold up if left in the sun every day and in inclement weather. It pivots down in addition to the bike's folding support arms at the bottom joint. This is just in case you need to open the back door of a hatchback SUV. minuses. As I list the cons, be aware that I don't think this particular carrier is terrible. I just think the only way you can design a hitch bike rack is to do so much. I don't think some of the cons I list can really be greatly improved with this design. Bicycles are mounted close together. This means that for every bike you add after the first one, you have to manipulate the pedals, handlebars, etc etc, as they will clash when the bikes are stacked. to the side. Not because the bikes wobble, but to keep things from constantly crashing and scratching all your bikes. Also, the undersides of the bikes wobble front-to-back when starting and stopping unless bungees are attached. You're going to get a few scratches no matter how carefully you set things up because they're close together and the pedals and handlebars are sticking out. There is no way to avoid this. The swivel function is useless in my opinion when the bike is mounted. It is too difficult to lower the luggage rack with 4 bikes installed when you need to open the tailgate of an SUV vehicle. (but then maybe it shouldn't be lowered with bikes mounted). Haven't tried it but it must be very heavy and I'm not sure it even goes deep enough with the bikes mounted to open the SUV door. I have it on my pickup truck so it doesn't bother me. The disadvantage of the pull bolt is that it is not removed as quickly as the clutch lock. You will need 2 tools to loosen it on both sides as it is an airplane lock nut. I also think if someone wanted to take their time, they could unscrew and steal your rack. I've tried locking it in place with a lock and it leaves too much play in the bike rack and wobbles and rattles everywhere. Thus, the clamping bolt should work for the time being. Finally, there is slight lateral play where the bike's support arms attach to the rack. I think they could make this area a little tighter and with less play, but I don't think that would be a problem if it breaks. So those are the main points I noticed while using mine. As far as this type of shelving goes, I've noticed some minor improvements, but I'm not sure how much this type of shelving can be improved upon. Read the review and decide if it's right for you.
