I used this on an aluminum frame swing door. The door is very old with a useless thumb latch and I don't like that people can open the screen door so easily. This lock works well in the corner between the jamb and the door, and even with only a screen installed in the summer (a glass panel is deployed in the winter), this lock will prevent someone from impulsively entering the home looking for a quick theft opportunity while I'm distracted from the kitchen. The lock is not visible from the outside, so an adventurous thief will most likely just get confused and move on. I replaced the screws with metal-grade self-tapping screws for ease of assembly, which is why the heads look different in my photo. Update: I changed the position after posting so that the larger, heavier part swings with the J hook on the post and the lighter swing part swings with the door. I also agree that the screws supplied are of poor quality, which is one of the reasons I used my own (I actually unscrewed the head of a screw the first time before switching to self-tapping screws).
