Bonsai Tree liked it as long as it worked.

This lamp was perfect for my bonsai tree. It didn't even come close to hitting the 10,000 hour mark, though. My particular lightbulb only lasted about 1800 hours before it stopped working. Also of note is that I was glad when it died that I noticed it wasn't on when it should have been (it's on a timer) because when I looked at it the underside of the CFL coil was glowing yellowish -orange and the base of the lamp where the ballast is located was very hot. If it stays like this all day, it could be causing a problem. I've uploaded a photo of what the bulb looks like when it's burned out.
