Long lasting solar bulb

I had already bought three of these bulbs last year and they worked great all winter. My plants have grown and actually started new plants from their own seeds when I put them outside. I figured I really needed more light for the plants so I bought these two bulbs to use this year giving me five in total. I highly recommend them. Each bulb costs about $12.50 for 12 months of electricity. I only use them from November to April. So that's less than half that amount per bulb per year. I use them…

Bonsai Tree liked it as long as it worked.

This lamp was perfect for my bonsai tree. It didn't even come close to hitting the 10,000 hour mark, though. My particular lightbulb only lasted about 1800 hours before it stopped working. Also of note is that I was glad when it died that I noticed it wasn't on when it should have been (it's on a timer) because when I looked at it the underside of the CFL coil was glowing yellowish -orange and the base of the lamp where the ballast is located was very hot. If it stays like this all day, it…

Worth it, start your indoor summer garden early

I bought this on November 30, 2015, today is September 16, 2017. This lamp has been working about 15 hours a day the whole time. and it's still going strong. I'm using it to grow cacti and some more mature cacti while waiting to create a more permanent habitat after my upcoming move. In the spring I also use it to grow vegetables and sunflowers. I have a tobacco plant that sits on a dresser about halfway between the window and this lightbulb that screws into a standard medium sized desk lamp…

CFLs are too hot to touch

The box says 'effective' and other reviewers have said they are cold to the touch when in use, but both bulbs I ordered got so hot I couldn't could touch her without getting burned. The bulb itself was way hotter than any other CFL I've come across, but the cartridge with the ballast would peel the skin off because it's so hot. The grow cabinet I tried using them in is adjustable to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, but after a few minutes of operation the temperature rose to over 100 degrees. I hope the…
