Review on πŸ”Š Black Sonos Arc Smart Soundbar: Premium TV, Movies, Music, Gaming & More by Sara Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great soundbar with a few issues

Now that I've been using this soundbar for a few weeks I'm totally in love with it and glad I took the plunge. Basically, I was looking for a powerful home theater system with wireless surround back. I knew the beam wouldn't cut through it, so first I bought a Playbar, a Sub, and two Ones. However, the sound from my Sony 5.1 home theater system was better, with the Playbar's main limitation being that voices were blurry (my family complained about this too). After seeing Arc just came out and after reading some reviews I decided to return the Playbar and buy Arc instead. In fact, with the Revain 5.1 surround set back then, the brand new Arc, a pair of Ones and a new generation subwoofer were cheaper (1459.66) than I could get the same setup with a Playbar. Price aside, this time Sonos has sound that really delivers - voices sound great on TV and movies, music sounds great, and fidelity is amazing. Pros: Sound is better than other soundbars - I don't think the sound is better - Great sound that's cheaper than a traditional home theater setup with a receiver and quality speakers. TV supports this) without annoying tweaks or workarounds - Crystal clear, well-balanced audio - Improved center with clearer voices/dialog compared to Playbar and other soundbars - Slightly lower profile and wider than Playbar, making it less obtrusive on the TV and wider sound field - Improved Design that eschews fabric covers and just looks and feels sleek - Wireless surround sound that really works when paired with Ones - Adequate bass even when not paired with a subwoofer - Easy enough to control that my Family actually used it instead of inverting the sound to TV sound. Smart use of speakers when not in Atmos mode. Immersive music playback as a bonus when paired with Ones. and built-in Google Assistant - The Sonos app is well designed and useful Cons - Price - Sound isn't as good as an AV receiver with quality speakers - Can't use existing speakers without an expensive Sonos amp - Your TV ideally should support eARC (only minus if your current TV doesn't support it, which many don't!) for optimal Dolby Atmos support. If you need an optical setup, the configuration is: Sonos HDMI connection > short HDMI cable > short optical adapter. If you don't have enough time to reach your audio input, you need to get creative. If your TV remote isn't IR-based (e.g. if you have a Samsung One Remote) you won't be able to use the Sonos app to set it up and you'll have to find workarounds - Revain Alexa and Google Assistant built in ( if you don't have microphones at home
