Not suitable! Beware.

This replacement air filter was only slightly longer than the original Whirlpool refrigerator air filter it replaced. Although I was able to fit this filter into the slot in the back of the fridge, the filter would not "snap into place" as the instructions said. In fact, I was very concerned that the slightly oversized filter was fully seated in the slot and I couldn't just press the side tabs and remove the filter without damaging the fridge. So I carefully inserted the air filter into the slot, leaving it protruding slightly so I could access the filter's side tabs and press on the filter's tabs to remove it later (hopefully without too much trouble). Except it doesn't fit flush. (resulting in the air filter door sticking out very slightly), another annoyance was the lack of a timeline. The original Whirlpool refrigerator air filter came with a small triangular gray time band that was placed to the left of the air filter before closing the small vent door where the air filter is located. Pressing a small "button" on the back strap starts a countdown to six months, indicated by a very slow moving red bar, visible when the vented door is closed. This red bar reaches the end of the bar after about six months and serves as a visual reminder to replace the air filter. A replacement Stage 1 air filter is supplied with this control strip. All in all it was a cheap but disappointing purchase. It was not worth returning this product. Next time I will pay more money to buy a genuine spa air filter.
