Review on Planet Bike Protégé 9.0 Bike Computer: Track Your Cycling Stats with Precision by Tyler Cooley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My 2nd Planet Bike Protege 9.0 I just love it and it's easy to read without my reading glasses!

Overall I am very happy with my Planet Bike Protege 9.0 and find it excellent value for money. I have had a Planet Bike Protege 5.0 in the past so I knew I would love this Planet Bike Protege 9.0 bike computer and I really do. I usually wear reading glasses when sitting in front of my computer or cell phone and this screen is very legible even under the hot Florida sun. My first is mounted on my Easy Racers Tour Easy recumbent (the cable mount distance is 40 inches / 102 cm from the mount to the fork) so I had to buy an extended cable. So when you ride the recumbent, be sure to measure the distance from the bike mount to the mount on the handlebars so you know if you need an extended cable or not. The lanyard attachment comes with rubber inserts to attach it to the smaller diameter tubes of some handlebars, e.g. B. lying down. My photos from my Tour Easy mount. My second protege is on my (new to me) Genius RDX recumbent and I bought the wired version again and had to buy a separate longer computer cable to mount to my recumbent handlebars. I've included the back of the computer so you can see the 3 silver pins and the 2 red adjustment buttons to reset the computer and set the wheel size. Also, you can see that you can change the battery without tools to open the battery door. - I think it's a really clever idea, even though I carry tools with me all the time. And easy to read without my reading glasses! It also shows you the temperature, which is good to know if you live in hot Florida like I do.

Pros
  • 1 x CR2032 battery (included)
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required
