Big screen and easy to read

I bought three of these. I really like them because they are easy to read and put the combination of information that interests me on the screen so I don't have to scroll through screens to get all the information I need. There's no backlight, so using it at night can be an issue. I have a flashlight on my helmet so that's not a problem for me. My eldest is a few years old and I find her very reliable.

Pros
  • 9 functions: current speed, speed comparator, ride time, distance traveled, dual odometer (for 2 wheel sizes), average speed, top speed, clock and temperature
Cons
  • High price

Works well, but a bit patchy in the startup guide.

Installing the sensor on the steering wheel and the computer mount on the steering wheel was easy enough, but the instructions didn't indicate that the calibration procedures needed to be run through (set time and wheel size) before showing. shows you everything it should (time, miles, temp, etc.). I made the mistake of calling the Revain hotline when I thought the product was faulty and was immediately put through to a very rude person who had no idea how to fix my issue but was clearly upset…

stopped working in the rain

All I wanted was a very simple, wired, really reliable computer. I used to have a few wireless ones, but I've encountered unstable things, apparently due to interference from the lights I'm using (others post a lot about this interference issue). So I did some research and found this Protege 9.0, bought it and put it on my bike, I really liked it, bought a second one and put it on my second bike. Then I drove the ride in the rain and the display went invisible. He returned a few hours later…

Is the last production batch defective?

This is my third purchase of a Planet Bike Protégé 9 computer. The first one was damaged by wear and tear after a few years. The second is a replacement and is still in use. I rate the first two five stars. So I buy this third one for my new bike and am disappointed because it has display issues; Some numbers are not displayed when inserted into the holder. It's a "2" (and up) in the second position on the odometer display, so you won't notice until you're 20 miles away. Taking it off the mount

Pros
  • Mounting hardware includes: 25.4-31.8mm handlebar mount and 82cm front wheel mounting kit
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.

Overall I am very happy with my Planet Bike Protege 9.0 and find it excellent value for money. I have had a Planet Bike Protege 5.0 in the past so I knew I would love this Planet Bike Protege 9.0 bike computer and I really do. I usually wear reading glasses when sitting in front of my computer or cell phone and this screen is very legible even under the hot Florida sun. My first is mounted on my Easy Racers Tour Easy recumbent (the cable mount distance is 40 inches / 102 cm from the mount to…

  • 1 x CR2032 battery (included)

Good but not sure

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to do so. I bought this computer to track my progress during the Ironman in Panama City, FL just a few weeks ago. After I received the computer I spent about an hour installing it and making sure it looked right. I put in my wheel size, ran the tire and made sure it worked. Shortly after, I did a 15-mile test ride. The computer worked great and quickly tracked anything I wanted. I did a second 30 mile test run and it worked great again. I…

Large Recumbent Cycle Computer

Despite some people's feedback, I've noticed that Utah Trikes use it on many of their recumbent trikes . Although mine weren't attached to the left handlebar as they are. Instead, I ordered a universal NOB computer mount from Issimo Designs (of Revain) and installed it on the left bar of the TerraTrike Versa Bar, and now it's better positioned at a slight angle to avoid interfering with my large hips. I used a stock CatEye rubber grip instead of the included rubber grommets because I prefer the
