Review on Planet Bike Protégé 9.0 Bike Computer: Track Your Cycling Stats with Precision by Drew Panah

Despite some people's feedback, I've noticed that Utah Trikes use this on a lot of their recumbent trikes. Although mine weren't attached to the left handlebar as they are. Instead, I ordered a NOB universal computer mount from Issimo Designs (of Revain) and installed it on the left bar of the TerraTrike Versa Bar, and now it's better positioned at a slight angle to avoid interfering with my large hips. I used a stock CatEye rubber grip instead of the included rubber grommets because I prefer the extra lip when riding on rough terrain (off-road). Everything works as intended. I had to measure the distance manually, which was pretty easy. There is a slight difference between using this and CycleDroid, but how solar activity affects the GPS signals can tell if the GPS is more accurate (Moto G4 Play) than this Protege 9.0 computer. I wish it had a percent display as well (i.e. +/- 6%). Temperature is a nice feature that I'll probably use more as it gets cooler. Note that the gauge read 05 instead of 105 when the temperature went above 100°F, but that's a minor thing. Drops well. Setup was easy. The counter works well on the TerraTrike Rover i8. Cadence is all about precision. Some days I don't have it and I feel it, and the up and down arrows confirm this. Found a way for night lighting: use a USB powered LED light connected to a power bank. A few rubber bands and velcro straps keep it in place, but don't worry about the backlight - backlighting drains batteries anymore. . I don't take this one in and out of the holder much. Otherwise, the plastic tab could wear out with repeated use and you may need to use a wide rubber band or silicone gasket. This will be the only problem I will see over time. Haven't ridden the Weiser River Trail yet, maybe in September. I'm sure this cycle counter will work fine. I am happy. Also corresponded with the manufacturer about mounting options before I found NOB and they replied to me with pictures and links. So the customer service was great too.
