I installed them on the rear half doors of a 2002 Ford F-150 option cab. . The groove was the right size for the cable so no drilling was required. I would recommend pulling out the top and bottom latch cables, 3 screws total to remove the latch. It's much easier to install the ends of the cable on the bench. Once you've removed the old plastic ends you will see ridges where the plastic was, these need to be removed. I used a Dremal Max sander with coarse sandpaper to knock down the combs and then some Emory sandpaper to finish. New endings are created without problems. You can use any method to do this, this is just what I used. Another thing to note is that these ends snap into holders. I used a couple of channel locks to secure them. I would suggest watching the videos available on UTube to disassemble the door and get an idea of how to disassemble everything.
