I tend to be in the camp of the traditional car wash who believe in the right car wash, the 2 bucket method etc. I've always hesitated. Use these types of products that claim they will not scratch your paint if there is dirt on your car. What technology can you use to spray this onto the dirt, wipe it off and somehow leave the underlying paint intact? Let's fast forward. It's been snowing for 2 months now. It's -10 degrees with a wind of -20 to -30 degrees. But there is a 45 degree day on the horizon. I think it's the perfect day to get rid of all that road salt and brown snow. I'm thrilled and don't like the idea of salt and de-icer on my paintwork at all. I'm going to the local car wash to wash the old girl. But no, pre-soaking doesn't work. Okay I'm just going to wash off as much dirt as I can with water and then apply a mild soapy spray and finally wash with water and rinse off without stains. (I never use car wash brushes. Again, I'm crazy about scratches.) But I found the car was still pretty dirty. A week of snow, ice and muddy roads took their toll on my color. And then the Meguiar Ultimate Waterless Wash comes to mind. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of it. Why not? A little dirt on my car. That's what it's made for. It's only when I start spraying that I realize that it's not a white bottle, but a liquid inside. It applies thicker than most aerosol waxes you've probably used. It seems to release dirt instantly on impact and washes clean without leaving small streaks when drying (I have a dark colored car so I found a product that is 100% streak free). My car looks like new after the repair. I'm impressed and there are no obvious scratches. I'll have to wait until a sunny day to really inspect the paintwork. I feel good knowing there is no more dirt on my paint and this product is as advertised. I love that wax is built in for added protection; it's not just washing. In short, this product delivers what it promises. I may have converted from a camp that considers these products blasphemy for people who REALLY don't care about their color. I used about 1/4 bottle on a full size truck. Not bad for a $10 bottle. And I guess I overdid it with the product as I was very afraid of possible scratches. God saves the man who saves himself. It's still cheaper than going to the car wash and spending over $12 for a wash. Again, this should be used on cars with light dirt, not a completely dirty car. As long as the proper car washes are available (I don't live in a water restricted state) this isn't a product of choice for me, but it is a great emergency wash alternative for those who live in apartment buildings. without access to a hose or for those looking to save money on car washing.
