Review on Norpro 5019 Hand Juicer by Alexa Olea

Collapsed while laying sliced carrots!

I bought this for my preschooler and toddler to use under my supervision. We lightly juiced grapes and strawberries while they ate the berries. We tried apples which were difficult for children to flip. We then tried carrots, sliced into thin slices about 1/4 inch thick and the juicer jammed. Even I found the knob very difficult to turn and I stopped because I didn't want to break it. I referenced the directions to ensure the product would work with carrots and other hard fruits/veggies. The guide says you can, and even gives recipes for carrot juice. So reluctantly I tried to keep thinking it would just be hard to spin but believing it would hold because the instructions said nothing else and it broke! I didn't take the photo, but it's the same plastic part that the other reviewer showed in his photo. This juicer can't handle anything harder than a soft apple. Unfortunately, this company directs you to break the product using recipes. I think it's a good product if you're just juicing small, soft fruits/vegetables and I'm glad there's a little juicer for little hands. I just want the instructions to acknowledge and be honest about the limitations of this product.
