I can repair electrical and mechanical parts. I don't like doing all this, but it's good to do, especially when it works better than new. Plug and play is basic but may not offer upgrades. It was easy for me. The disassembly of the fan housing is intuitive. I removed the screen, unscrewed the obvious screws to remove the bottom of the case. Watch out for a rain of dead bugs and a saw ripping off the lower case. Rschunimagu. Remove the old motor. Cut the old wires and leave them as long as possible. I soldered the old wires to the new motor. It still just toggles the controller on and off. The engine is 2/3 larger than the factory engine. The fan is the same 6 inch diameter as my old one. Has a larger diameter shank that has an obvious D shape. Insert a new plastic fan. Drill the old bracket into the ceiling in place. Drill a center hole to make room for the motor. Bracket hole pattern. I was able to accomplish all of this without drilling out the rivets on the mount. Mounts the motor with the screws provided. I reshaped the bracket which was slightly bent from drilling. Everything fits with a good margin and it looks like the factory fit or better. 50 minutes but I had to look for tools lol.
