Purchased this set after reading the reviews to replace a Peugeot set that had lasted over 25 years of daily use. Agree with the reviewer that you get what you pay for at S&P mills by going through my share of the cheap mills. Love the clean wood and stainless steel design, don't worry about fingerprints on the glass. Arrived in a gift box surrounded by a specially tailored corrugated box. Mills come with a small amount of S and P, but they are mostly empty. A piece of plastic covered the bottom of the salt mill; I assume this was done so the moisture in the air wouldn't accumulate the salt it contained. The tops rotate easily; Remove lid to fill. As with any good tool, the bits feel solid as you twist the tip. Each grinder has a letter at the top for easy identification. Salt has 3 grinds, pepper has 6; when changing from fine to coarse grinding, the adjustment band rotates more easily. I don't see any processing defects. They make a good wedding or housewarming gift or in my case a gift for myself.
