Doesn't stick well to the dashboard, couldn't attach the phone holder suction cups

I bought this to attach the phone holder to the suction cup on the dashboard. The original suction cup lost its stickiness after about a month. Those sticky pads couldn't even last a few seconds. I've searched the whole pack, followed the directions up to T (cleaning with alcohol wipes), even tried different sides of the wipes (although they appear symmetrical), all to no avail. The phone holder is quite bulky so it might fit lighter models but I doubt it.
