Perfect size for travel journals
I think Stillman & Birn magazines are one of the best brands of sketchbook journals. Moleskine is good too. I've tried many brands and the Stillman & Birn Alpha Series is one of the best I've used, but everyone has their own favorites. The paper is bright white and heavy enough to withstand a light wash, and the lightweight cover makes it ideal for quick sketches on the go. The paper is smooth but not as smooth as hot press paper. Having worked with paperbacks, I think I prefer the hardcover style; again, just personal preference.
