I bought this to make it easier to work with some basic headphones with a built in mic on the same cable as I couldn't get them to work on the front inputs (it would detect if I put something in a Of them). Jack, but there was no sound and I couldn't be heard). Before purchasing I had (no problem) chatting in games via a USB controller using the controller's own 3.5mm headphone jack, but I wanted to make it a bit easier as I don't like big wireless gaming headsets. After a while I find this uncomfortable. Since I didn't want to end up fiddling with the controller, I instead wanted to use a 6ft 3.5mm extension cable (which I already had but wasn't using at the moment) from the back of my computer, in the field of view under my desk, neatly next to my keyboard/mouse, but I needed a mic and a stereo jack on the rear inputs (which the mic didn't have). I knew buying this device with a mic/stereo input would solve my problem. All I had to do was make a few audio adjustments and now the voice chat through the headphones is clear and I can be heard with no problem either. Other thoughts: I would have preferred the black color option, but I haven't seen one at the time of writing. Regardless, the overall look and build quality of the little adapter is still appealing, and it hides fairly well among other cables.
