These are the best value in chisels that I have ever had. The chisels arrived well packaged, and appeared to be of good quality. After unpacking , I began the task of flattening them, and to my surprise, it took no more than 5 minutes each. Each chisel polished to a mirror finish on its back, with minimal effort, and time. They were just as easy to get a razor sharp edge.I haven't had occasion to use them on anything other than yellow pine and walnut, but they have retained their edge as well as any others that I own.I suspect that they will not hold that edge quite as long as a top of the line, top dollar chisel, but for the money, and ease of sharpening, they can't be beaten. At 16 dollars for the entire set, I can happily sharpen a bit more frequently, and do without the coronary when one decides to roll off of my bench.Overall, they are also a pretty good looking set of chisels with decent ergonomics. If I could have one wish, it would have been nice to have had some leather caps on the bald headed end, to deaden some of the noise from the blows. This is just a great set of chisels, for very little money.UPDATE: After having more time with these, I have noticed that the steel does not hold an edge as well as I would prefer. I have been using them in some older, yellow pine that is peppered with hard, dense knots. I mentioned the fact that the pine is older yellow pine out of fairness. Yellow pine seems to gain a great deal of density, and the knots harden with age, as well as the fact that yellow pine contains a great deal of silica. None of those factors are friendly to a fine steel edge. In honesty, I don't believe that even the finest steel would hold up in that environment, but I mention it to give an honest and concise review. The down side is that the worst damage was very small chips on the edge, after using them with a mallet against the knots. Now, the redemption is the fact that the steel isn't hard enough to make removing the damage a chore. I was able to remove all damage with100 strokes on my 1000 grit diamond stone, and return to a razor sharp edge with another 100 on my 2000 grit, finalized with 30 strokes on my strop. All in all, the total process took less than 10 minutes.I still believe that, for the money, you couldn't ask for a better set of chisels. They would make an excellent purchase for someone that is just starting out, or like myself that just likes to have another set on hand for convenience. I am still thrilled with them, and would not hesitate to buy them again.
