Review on Rain X 600001 Windshield Repair Kit by Jason Morrison

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be careful with WAXED windows

I've used this kit a few times and it works well. Important NOTE. If you are waxing your window (e.g. RainX), you must remove the "wax" from the area around the chip to be repaired before proceeding with the repair. The "wax" somehow prevents or drastically slows the "drying out" of the crack-fill fluid when it hardens in the sun. Dries really long. Crack filling itself may be fine. Use acetone on a paper towel to remove wax. In my case I put some masking tape on the chip (no tape, it can dissolve) and cleaned everything around it; Then remove the tape and clean the chipped area. If you look at a window against the light you can see where the wax has been peeled/rubbed off. Of course, you should NOT rub the window if you have a chip that you might want to fix in the future. a few weeks after repair with no obvious effect on repair.
