When computers were first sold without internal CD/DVD drives I was very skeptical. I have hundreds if not thousands of discs that I've purchased over the years, ranging from music and software to home videos that I've burned from video tapes. Every year more and more computers are sold without built-in drives. That scared me a little. I very rarely need a CD drive, but when I do, getting an old computer, updating and fixing problems, just copying data from a CD to a flash drive is very difficult. much easier! I can keep it in my desk drawer and when I need it it's there. Like a little insurance policy. I connected 3 machines to it for testing purposes, 2 Win10 machines and an older iMac. They all immediately recognized that there was a drive and just worked. What more do you want? There is a cable management slot on the bottom of the case and I like the fact that it is compatible with both USB-C and standard USB/USB3.
