Review on Carpenter 3x5 3/8 inch Visco-Elastic Memory Foam with Spillguard DuPont Barrier Rug Pad by Jesse Francilme

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice thick pad but no grip to keep rugs from slipping.

I have a love-hate relationship with this rug. It's very thick and makes my rug very soft and I love it, but the rug is always slippery. Our rug is in my son's playroom, the room needs to be very secure as he is 1 year old and everything goes in his mouth. He hasn't noticed yet, but I'm afraid he'll see the block, realize he can take the styrofoam apart and try to eat it. (I realize this is a very specific issue, but someone might consider this if they have pets.) When we first got it, it was a little difficult because it was a bit larger than our rug . Cropping was a little tricky because the pad itself isn't straight, so you can't use it as a guide to trim off the excess even though there's something written on it. It took a few snips (we were afraid of cutting off too much) but it finally fits under the rug properly. that is, of course, before the carpet begins to move. I'm sure if you have heavy furniture on the carpet and pillow it will hold it in place but I don't. I don't know how well it holds liquid on the floor yet, so I can't comment. What. If the carpet hadn't slipped, the rating would have been higher.

Pros
  • The Spillguard moisture barrier prevents spills from entering the cushion so they can be cleaned from the carpet quickly and easily.
Cons
  • Very expensive
