Follow the instructions and you won't be disappointed. This is a mechanical timer that does not rely on batteries or power other than the kinetic energy it receives from the winding. I think the ringtone volume and duration are spot on and it's a great timer to keep track of screen usage before or after school. Set it for an hour, let them rest, and when the bell rings, back to school! I think it's very handy and much easier to set up than a digital alarm clock.
