I'm reorganizing my backup system and trying to save space in my safe, I'm using it as a backup drive for 4 other drives housed in the Mac Pro (Early 2009). I put it in a Startech toaster style SATA hard drive bracket. It spun and then I got a dialog saying the drive could not be read and needed to be formatted (which is normal for a new drive on a Mac). I used Disk Utility to first erase the drive and then create 4 different sized partitions for the different drives I wanted to back up: an SSD boot drive plus 3 data drives ranging in size from 2 to 8 terabytes. I've had no trouble formatting, partitioning, or copying data to this drive in just a few hours of use. At the time of writing this, it was the cheapest 14TB drive I could find at $529. I can't comment on the speed as it's not a problem in my use as I only use it for backups at night, but I'll report here if I run into any issues with this drive. When received it was well packaged in a nice thick bubble wrap box which gives me confidence that these discs will survive shipping unlike some that I have received. However, I must add that my drive has a different label than what is shown in the list. I have a generic white label that includes the words "Toshiba" and "14TB" among other things.
